I work as NHS Consultant Psychiatrist and I am also Clinical Director of Adult Mental Health in Newham/London, East London NHS Foundation Trust.
As a general adult psychiatrist I provided a clinical service together with a specialist multidisciplinary team for a catchment area of about 35000 population in East-London from 1997-2013. I am currently responsible for the Acute Day Hospital, a 25-place unit as alternative for inpatient treatment. The borough of Newham is one of the most culturally diverse areas in the UK and at the same time characterised by high social deprivation scores. My areas of special interest and expertise include: psychotherapy in psychosis, non-verbal/body-oriented psychological therapy and somatoform disorders/medically unexplained syndroms.
For more than 15 years I have been providing clinical leadership to mental health services as a clinical manager. As Clinical Director of General Adult Services in the East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) I was responsible for the clinical management of a service covering a population size of appr. 300.000. Since 2013 I am Associate Medical Director for Research & Innovation in East London. ELFT is covering the whole area of East-London with mental health services for the boroughs of Newham, City & Hackney and Tower Hamlets (appr. 850.000). - www.eastlondon.nhs.uk -
